Frayed is a hilarious and hopefully happy story of a mother who must re-acclimate to the location she abandoned decades ago, and how her pasty and awkward children could thrive there. It's not a new book, but Sarah Kendall's Frayed is. The first series, created and starring the extremely gifted Sarah Kendall, was excellent; the second series, if anything, is even better (sic). We can sit back and enjoy the amusement as we see widowed Sam and her family deal with their reduced circumstances: sometimes bleak, sometimes dry, sometimes slapstick, but always, always entertaining.

Fisk is bright, hilarious, and demands your undivided attention on television. Frayed hasn't lost any of its humorous edge in its second season. Sammy stays self-centered, the core character is perpetually on the verge of parody, and the walk-ons (Abby's guidance counsellor is delightfully incompetent) provide lots of laughs. 86 percent of critics agree: Frayed's purposely cringe-inducing humor may make viewers groan, but good performances and a surprisingly lovely heart will keep them watching - even if it's through their tears.
